Preparing for Easter

Created by Deneen Washington 12 years ago
Every year as a child I remember Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. They were rituals that went with the holiday. The first thing is that I always got two dresses. One for Palm Sunday and one for Easter Sunday. With the dresses came a slip, pearl earrings, a white sweater or a cape, patent leather shoes, lace stockings, a pocketbook and white gloves. A trip to the salon when i got older, but when I was younger my mom would sit me next to the stove with a pressing comb and curling irons. And within moments, I was transformed into a little lady ready for church. And going to the church was a given. Family dinners usually followed. We all had Sunday's best. Those were good memories, good rituals and strong traditions that helped to mold me into what I am today. Mommy thank you for the preparations. They have helped me as an adult, it doesn't make things easier, but helps me to appreciate the time i spent with you. I love you dearly.
